Dangers On A Train, 10 Years Later

Hi all and welcome to another Simpsons On Sundays post. Well, Krusty had a good thing going with his clown school and Bart was actually happy there. The latter shouldn’t be a surprise to any of us. Right? After all, he was being with his hero and then, the mob has to fuck things up and especially, Fat Toney. Fuck that fat fuck and his mob underlings, taking something away from Krusty and Bart should have thrown Toney and his Springfield mob buddies into the fire, so he could burn with the school. Sorry to give anything away, but this episode really made me angry and never the less, I encourage anyone who hasn’t watched this episode to do so, in order to know why I have such hatred toward Toney, in this episode. I have said it before and I will say it again, that any emotions are not directed at the actors involved, or the writers. It is the characters and that’s it. If the writers want to kill off Toney and his mob buddies, I could care less, especially if Bart was to be the one to take their lives. Now that I think of it, I hope that there will be an episode where Bart murders everyone in Springfield, outside of any Treehouse Of Horror episode and as a part of the Simpsons canon. The characters will all be back for the next episode anyway so, as long as Matt Selman is in charge, they can turn reality end the entirety of the show on its head. After all, there was an episode which had a hacker who distracted from the entire story anyway so, why not have Bart kill everyone in every episode from now on? Just because? After all, isn’t Bart supposed to be a sociopath anyway?

Unfortunately, we have a death to talk about and it’s not a name you would know, but another band member was instrumental in the parody. Andy Rourke bassist of the Smiths has passed away of pancreatic cancer on Friday, at the age of 59. Singer Morrissey was the subject of the parody in the Season 32 episode Panic on the Streets of Springfield, with the character Quilloughby voiced by British actor Benedict Cumberbatch. The song Everyone Is Horrid Except Me (And Possibly You) of course featuring Lisa was released as a single in 2021. https://music.apple.com/ca/album/everyone-is-horrid-except-me-and-possibly-you-from/1566259499

Here is the same song on Youtube. https://youtu.be/yuK20a38UbA

Here are tributes and reactions from fellow musicians to Andy’s death and so far, no word from Morrissey, as of when I last checked the link. https://loudwire.com/smiths-bassist-andy-rourke-died-59-reaction-tributes/

This week let’s take a look back to the finale of Season 24, whose guest stars were Seth MacFarlane as Ben and Lisa Lampanelli as Ramona. Here is a synopsis and the plot of the episode, along with something about two couch gags? https://simpsonswiki.com/wiki/Dangers_on_a_Train

All right, if you have read the link you know that there were two couch gags which aired and one was from Canada. This all stems from the premiere episode of season 24, which I had done a post on back in October and here is why we have the two couch gags. During the end credits of Moonshine River, the family rush onto the couch and Homer says that he hopes the viewers liked the show, and tells them that the Homer who got the air conditioner on his head was in-fact a stunt man (which explains why we didn’t get to see the air conditioner actually fall on Homer’s head). Lisa says that the family is there because they want to ask the viewers if they have an idea for a couch gag, with Bart saying that the best submission will be animated and appear on the show. Homer asks if they screwed them on the credit, with Marge replying no, and that for details, viewers should log on to thesimpsons.com . Bart shows us his couch gag, which is that everyone’s heads turn into Bart’s. That is how life-long Simpsons fan Ray Savaya got his gag on the show, airing only in Canada, while the other one came from someone in Oakland California.

Seth MacFarlane as a guest voice was a great thing for me, because I was not a fan at first. Back in 2013 when I got into The Simpsons as much as I did, I was not at all a Family Guy type of dude. I have since come around, but have always gone to The Simpsons first. For one thing, Seth and myself are the same age and will both be 50 this year, with me turning half a century in 12 days and Seth reaching that mile stone in October. That’s not exactly a reason to suddenly like him, but having learned that he had guest starred as a Simpsons character and that the show would cross over with Family Guy, I had changed my tune quickly.

Snack cakes brought to mind the erotic cakes which Marge would bake in the episode Sex, Pies & Idiot Scrapes. Obviously in this episode, there are no bountyhunters, but there is a guy who had a big fancy for Marge and that was because they watched the same TV show. I wonder if some day, Ben may make a return and if so, maybe he could be punished by Ramona for his dalliances, by having to babysit Bart, Maggie and Lisa. Even worse, having to go on a date with Marge’s heterosexual twin sister, with Ramona watching gleefully. Actually, I’m not going to be mean and only have him babysit The Simpsons kids while Homer and Marge go out and Flanders is away, somewhere away from Homer. I hope that the show can get back to stories like that again, in order to possibly develop more one time characters like Ben.

Anyway, I like this episode a lot and I’m going to watch it before tonight’s episode, which will be the finale for Season 34. I will only say that Homer crashes his car, while going for a drive and that’s it. If you want to know more about tonight’s episode, watch it and maybe next week, I will get more into it, including the guest star. Speaking of whom, here is a preview of tonight’s episode. https://youtu.be/nz6mkngwxs4
