renovations

Hi friends and welcome to another Simpsons Sunday post. Well, did you enjoy Orange Is The New Yellow? I actually have it but haven’t had a chance to watch it yet. However, a bigger issue has cropped up for iTunes users in Canada, such as myself. This season has had delayed episodes and some have even come in weeks late. In fact, when I received Orange Is The New Yellow, I also received Fland Canyon. But, I am also missing To Courier With Love in my iTunes purchased library. It also lists Orange As The New Yellow as episode 21. Hopefully soon this problem will be fixed and I and others in Canada can enjoy watching Season 27 in its entirety on our iOS devices. Otherwise, I’m happy. However, I want you all to know that I don’t blame anyone from The Simpsons production staff or even Al Jean for the delays. I put the blame squarely on the Canadian iTunes Store’s shoulders. I will be buying products from them in the future but, they have to be sure that everything gets to the customer in a timely manner. Usually, it does but for some reason, Season 27 has had those pesky delays. Hopefully this will be fixed for Season 28 and beyond.

One more thing I should also mention is that the East Coast and West Coast versions of Simprovised have been put in our purchased library as bonus episodes. I think that is cool that everyone gets to see all versions of this episode, especially since each version is different with Homer’s live segment.
On a happier note and before I forget, I should give some more background as to how I decided to start this blog. Until recently, I published posts on The Simpsons on Sunday’s in another blog I had started, which will appear at the end of this post and future posts as my links section. It was inspired by Yeardley Smith’s blog called Gobbing Off. I know there are other blogs which I could have read but reading her posts over the summer and fall of 2013 made me want to give it a try. It was really a blog which talks about what I feel like putting out my thoughts on the web. I have even posted some new album reviews which have been on other blogs and has been a real boost for me.
Okay, I decided to go all Simpsons because I actually thought I wasn’t able to post in the other blog anymore. This was before I found out that my security token had expired and needed to be reset. So, I did that and I did post something else on that blog and here is my latest Simpsons Sunday post.
On the birthday front, happy birthday to Simpsons theme composer Danny Alfman, who turneds another year older today. Also, my own birthday is coming up on June 2nd, along with guest star Stacy Keach, who voices the character Howard K Duff VII, the main man behind Duff Beer. Also voicing retiring Springfield nuclear power plant employee Don Bookner, in the episode Bart’s New Friend. Don Bookner covered for Homer at Secter 7 G, while Homer was doing his usual sleeping and stuff. He also played Sargent Stadanko in the Cheech And Chong movie Up In Smoke. I actually learned that recently because I didn’t recognize the voice, from the movie to future Simpsons episode like: Hungry Hungry Homer, Bart’s New Friend and Waiting For Duffman.
This weeks post is all about renovations. This topic is rather relevant in my life right now because in my apartment, they are doing renovations to the building and it’s entirety and it is a Real pain for people such as those who have a disability to get around. Of course, at the Simpsons household and in Springfield things have fallen apart and been rebuilt. For example: in the episode Hurricane Neddy, the Flanders house was demolished by a hurricane named Barbara. After finding this out, March decided to get the whole town of Springfield to rebuild the Flanders house. Unfortunately the work was shoddy at best, with a lot of dirt on the floor and ammenities such as a toilet where they shouldn’t be. Even a room with too much electricity was present. Well, this shows how skilled Springfielders are at rebuilding a house.
Let’s not forget about The Simpsons Movie, when Homer rid himself of pig crap into Lake Springfield. This is of course, after he found Harry Plopper and saved him from being killed at a Krusty Burger. He had filled a silo full of pig droppings and dumped the contents into Lake Springfield, after a no dumping sign was posted. This resulted in it getting on the news and the entire town of Springfield going after Homer and the rest of the family. The entire mob destroyed The Simpsons house, along with a sink whole and well, that dome was no help either. In fact, it was partly the cause of this mob to get started in the first place, along with Homer’s big dump. Then later on in the movie, after Springfield was saved by Homer and Bart throwing the bomb outside the crack in the dome covering Springfield, the dome was blow’n apart and Springfield was saved. Then all the towns people helped to rebuild the Simpsons family home. Of course, it was all for a donut because Lardlap Donuts was about to be shut down, due to health concerns and they were giving away free donuts. As Simpsons fans we all know Homer loves his donuts. Don’t we?

those are just two examples of houses in the Simpsons universe being destroyed then rebuilt. Of course Moe’s tavern has been retooled a few times as well. It was: a British bar, a gay bar in the Season 22  episode Flaming Moe and even had a bunch of rich customers in the Season 3 episode Flaming Moe’s. It’s really simple to find out all the changes ther residents of Springfield have gone through with their property over the years, all be it for a specific episode. Just look on the Simpsons Wiki sights and even on Wikipedia for articles on episodes and about specific characters. As fans we know they are all very interesting to varying degrees and with lots of fun quirkiness and an edge to most of them.
Well that’s about it for this weeks post. In the mean time, I recommend checking out my other blog, which has older posts relating to The Simpsons, along with a lot more interesting stuff about my favourite bands and other things. http://blindgordieblog.wordpress.com

Season 27 Highlights

hi folks and welcome to another Simpsons Sunday. This week it’s all about Season 27 and my personal highlights. Yes, I know there is one more episode yet to air but I figured I would give my own personal top list of highlight episodes and moments from this past season or rather, this current season of The Simpsons.
first on my list is the couch gag for Every Man’s dream, which features a very short piece from a song by none other than Dan Castellaneta, who voices: homer Simpson, Krusty The Clown, Groundskeeper Willy and others. The song in question is called Through It All There Is Love and Al Jean told me it was Matt Groening’s idea to add it in. The album it was taken from is called Two Lips and is rather Beatlesk in many ways. I will save a review of the album for Dan’s birthday.
My second highlight comes from the latest Treehouse Of Horror episode, when Sideshow Bob finally kills Bart and thankfully it is only for that episodes short. I remember a lot of talk about it on the web before hand and people liked my retweet from the Simpsons Wiki site, when it was announced that it would happen.
My third highlight is when Miss Berrera becomes Bart’s new teacher and is much more forgiving than Mrs. Krabappel was. I wonder what will happen in the future. Will she appear again and change from liking Bart to becoming another one of his jousting partners? A second part to this highlight is Bart actually being nice to Principal Skinner, after he is turned down by Miss Berrera. It kinda makes you think about how much Bart actually respects Skinner deep down, despite being a pain in the ass to him and other staff at Springfield elementary school.
my next highlight is the episode Lisa The Veterinarian, where Lisa tries so hard to save as many animals as she can. However, she forgets about Nibbles the school hamster, whom she was supposed to look after but neglected to do so. both her and Dr. Budgie voiced by Michael York tried to save him but unfortunately, he dies. what is interesting is that Bart tries to shake Lisa out of her arrogance and thinking that she is a real veterinarian, when she is only an intern of Sorts.
My final highlight for this post is the live segment of the episode Simprovised. what makes this interesting is that there are a few versions of this segment and in my case I have the international version, where Homer tells us what he’s going to do if he becomes president of the United States. another version has questions from fans and answers from Homer on various topics. One thing I am glad about is that the fourth wall was not broken. What this means is that Homer did not talk directly to the fans or answer questions about who voices who or who does what on the show. I guess that means the same thing but those questions can be reserved for interviews with various production and writing staff and with the voice actors themselves. I tweeted that there really was no need to do this because everybody knows who voices homer for example. I’ve always said that I was surprise when I heard Dan Castellaneta speak in his normal speaking voice, as opposed to the voices he uses for his many Simpsons characters. Will they do something like this again? Will they ever consider doing something similar to what Amos and Andy did for their 30th Anniversary radio show? In that case they had both Freeman Gostin and Charles Correll interviewing their characters: Amos Jones, George Kingfish Stevens and Andy Brown respectively. The Simpsons could do that but once again, there really is no need because of all the books and TV shows the voice actors have all appeared on together or separately. to be honest, I think it would be really cool to hear Nancy Cartwright talking to either Bart or Nelson just like that. What I haven’t heard much is Matt Groening voicing himself much on the show, except for a few occasions. For example: in the episode My Big Fat Geek Wedding he voices himself when Milhouse asked for his autograph. How cool is that? Even Dan Castellaneta voices himself in an episode or two during the series.
Well that is just about it for this post and Season 27. I’m looking forward to the finale Orange Is The New Yellow tonight and downloading it from iTunes to my iPod touch, when it becomes available. As for Season 28, I am looking forward to what will transpire in the future. There are some really interesting episode titles this time and the episode Monty Burns Fleeing Circus sounds interesting, mainly because of who it is making fun of. In case you haven’t heard of Monty Python’s Flying Circus or any of the albums they have released, that is what this episode title is going after. Either way, I don’t mind. After all, Eric Idel guest starred as Declan Desmond, a documentary filmmaker, who is designed to fill in gaps about some of the characters in Springfield. Right? Anyway, talk to you next Sunday.

Simpson Sunday… Wednesday Post

Hi folks and welcome to the very first Simpsons Sunday post. I know it is on a Wednesday but I had actually started this site before I learned I had to reset my security token. Anyway, here we are and this is the first post for the new blog.
To give you some background on how it came to be, I had been posting in another blog about the show and the Simpsons writers and staff seemed to have not minded me publishing. I have been blind since birth and that explains the tag line.
I will be posting my official first post on Sunday but I would like to say some belated happy birthdays to some important people. First of all, James L. Brooks turned another year older on May 9th. Without him, would The Simpsons have benn allowed to be as groundbreaking as they have been and continue to be? He made it clear that there was to be no network notes and that was important to the growth of the series.
My second birthday is Russi Taylor, who voices Martin Prinse and the twins sherry and Terry as her main voice rolls. She even voiced Shirley Temple in the king Kong short of Treehouse Of Horror II, when Homer as an ape eats her alive.
Well, that’s it for the first   post. What’s in store for the future? Well, if you have had a chance to read my other blog  http://blindgordieblog.wordpress.com in which I’ve posted about the show, among other things. My guess is you will likely see more of the same.
